Frequently Asked Questions

What is ATPLCards?
ATPLCards is a flashcard app designed specifically for EASA ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) exam preparation. It uses the FSRS-6 spaced repetition algorithm to schedule reviews based on your individual memory patterns, helping you memorize the facts that ATPL exams demand. Available on iOS and Android.
How many flashcards are included?
ATPLCards contains over 2,200 pre-loaded flashcards across all 13 EASA ATPL theory subjects. Every card was hand-written during real ATPL study — not AI-generated or copied from question banks. You can also create your own cards, and the algorithm tracks those too.
What is FSRS-6 spaced repetition?
FSRS-6 (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler, version 6) is a peer-reviewed, open-source spaced repetition algorithm. It models your memory for each individual card and schedules reviews right before you would forget — turning short-term cramming into long-term recall. It's been shown to outperform older algorithms like SM-2 (used by Anki) in research studies.
Is ATPLCards free?
ATPLCards is free to download and includes the full Meteorology deck (203 cards) at no cost. A premium subscription unlocks all 13 ATPL subjects. If ATPL training has already stretched your budget, contact us through the app and we'll see how we can help.
Does ATPLCards work offline?
Yes. All flashcards are stored locally on your device. You can study anywhere — on a plane, in the mountains, or underground. When you're back online, your progress syncs across devices automatically.
Who wrote the ATPL flashcards?
The flashcards were created by Oleksii Masnyi, a pilot who passed all 13 ATPL exams, 9 of them above 90%, completing the entire theory in 14 months. Every card was written by hand during real study and refined across multiple exam sittings. New cards are still being added as flight training progresses.
What ATPL subjects does ATPLCards cover?
All 13 EASA ATPL theory subjects: Air Law (010), Aircraft General Knowledge (021), Instrumentation (022), Mass & Balance (031), Performance (032), Flight Planning (033), Human Performance (040), Meteorology (050), General Navigation (061), Radio Navigation (062), Operational Procedures (070), Principles of Flight (081), and Communications (090).
How is ATPLCards different from Aviationexam or other question banks?
Question banks and flashcard apps serve different purposes. Question banks like Aviationexam test your understanding with multiple-choice exam questions. ATPLCards focuses on pure memorization — the specific facts, numbers, limits, and definitions that you need to recall instantly. Think of it as a complement: use your question bank to practice exam technique, and ATPLCards to lock in the facts. The FSRS-6 algorithm ensures you review each fact at the optimal time, so you spend minutes per day instead of hours re-reading.
